Bahamas bidding – Caribbean Chess Sub Zonal Tournament 2010

The Bahamas Chess Federation (BCF) received the endorsement of The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, on Thursday 8th October, 2009 in support of its efforts to bid for the Caribbean Chess Sub Zonal Tournament 2010.

The BCF is in the process of exercising its option to bid for the Caribbean Chess Sub Zonal 2.3 2010 scheduled for next year June. If successful, the Sub Zonal will be the first FIDE Tournament hosted by the BCF and held in The Bahamas.

The Bahamas chess community has much to be excited about. The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture has committed to making a sizable contribution to the BCF and GM David Norwood, a Bahamas resident, has committed to raising sufficient funds to cover half the costs to host the 22 official players from the Sub Zone 2.3 15 member countries.
