      Cuban Bruzon Unbeaten in Chess Latin Cup

      Quito, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Chess player Lazaro Bruzon continue undefeated therefore leading the Chess Latin Cup, which enters in its final round today in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In a double-session day, Bruzon, who adds 5.5 points and shared the top with Peruvian Deysi Cori, will play first against Peruvian Deivy Vera, in fourth place with five units.

      Bruzon and Cori tied their match in just 13 moves of a Grunfeld defense in the sixth round of the event.

      For his part, Cori will play today against Ecuadorian Carlos Matamoros, third place with five unites.

      Among the 145 contestants in the lid, Cubans Isam Ortiz and Maritza Arribas occupy positions 10 and 11, respectively, with 4.5 points.

      Ortiz will face now Colombian Jairo Hernandez and Arribas will play against Peruvian Alexander Prince, another opponent that might be exploitable to maintain her ascent.

      The event will cover a total of nine rounds according to the Swiss system and is scheduled to close tomorrow, last day of 2014.
