White to move and mate in 4.
1- Rb8+ Kxb8 2- Bxd6+ Kc8 3- Rb6+ Kd8 4- Bc7#
Shouldn’t 3 be Nb6+?
like the last 3 – forced sequences. no variations.
This problem at least has some substance. Many would fumble with 1.Nb6+ and be unable to cope with 1… kd8.
1rb8ch etc
Replace black’s N on e5 by a P or a R if you have a spare or remove it altogether and you have a drab mate in two.
When you look at the position you see:
Black has a mate in 1. Nb6, Kd8 is lost Therefore the only move is Rb8+ etc.
If that doesn’t work White is lost.
That is what I mean by being a forced variation.
As Prof Bhat points out it is rather artificial.
