      Dan Golub and Svetlana Petrenko are 2013 Moldovan champions

      Dan Golub and IM Svetlana Petrenko won the Open and Women’s section of the Moldovan National Chess Championships 2013 that took place on 10-20 March at the Clubul Republican de Șah si Joc de Dame in Chisinau, Moldova.

      Dan Golub had an impressive final streak of three wins in the open event. He defeated IM Ruslan Soltanici in the last round to reach him in the standings with 8.5/11 points. Golub got the gold medal thanks to his better score in the tiebreaks. Third place went to rating favorite GM Vasile Sanduleac.

      In the women’s section, rating favorite IM Svetlana Petrenko finished undefeated with 9/11 points. This was enough to get sole first place, leaving her closest followers a whole point behind. Paula-Alexandra Gitu finished second and Olga Hincu third.

      The prizes in the open section were distributed as follows: 1st place – 1 000 lei; 2nd place – 700 lei; 3rd place – 500 lei.
