      Eight players share first place in Karpos Open

      Kozul, Skopje

      The 2013 Open Karpos was organized by the Municipality of Karpos and Chess Club Gambit Aseko-See on 9-16th March at the Aleksandar Palace in Skopje.

      The Tournament was played over 9 rounds of Swiss System and the total prize fund was 20,000 EUR.

      234 players from 31 federations competed, including 56 Grandmasters and 24 International Masters. Replay the top games with computer analysis.

      Eventually eight players settled on 7,0/9 points each to share the first place. Former European Champion Zdenko Kozul takes the trophy thanks to the best buchholz score.

      GM Vasily Yemelin was leading throughout the competition but the 8th round defeat against GM Eduardo Iturrizaga pushed him down in the standings.
