      Equality! Imagine! Yoko Ono!

      Beatles, Yoko Ono

The admin from http://cheszpatzerblog.blogspot.com/ just sent me the picture of this chess set by Yoko Ono.

Imagine if there would be no color boundary, no racism, no sexism, no discrimination of any kind! Imagine living in a peaceful world!

Here is the link for the write ups concerning the event at Montreal Gazzete.

Imagine by the Beatles / John Lennon

      Imagine there’s no heaven
      It’s easy if you try
      No hell below us
      Above us only sky
      Imagine all the people
      Living for today…

      Imagine there’s no countries
      It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
      And no religion too
      Imagine all the people
      Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

      Imagine no possessions
      I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
      A brotherhood of man
      Imagine all the people
      Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

I think this is great and I am very happy that someone has the unbounding determination to turn young minds into efficient, strong, critical thinking ones. This is something that agrees with my philosophy that time neither begins nor ends. Therefore, we can neither be late nor early, so we are always on time.

Arriving on the level, and departing on the square.

I would like to share a poem as well with the Community.

Who knows when our meeting shall ever be.
It might be for years or
        It might be forever.

Let us then take a lump of clay,
        Wet it, pat it,
And make an image of you
        And an image of me.
        Then smash them, crash them,
        And, with a little water,
        Knead them together.

And out of the clay we’ll remake
An image of you, and an image of me.
Thus in my clay, there’s a little of you,
And in your clay, there’s a little of me.
And nothing will ever set us apart.

Living, we’ll be forever in each other’s heart,
And dead, we’ll be buried together.

John Lennon was a member of the Beatles, yes. But this, one of his most memorable songs was written AFTER the Beatles separated!!

So remove the Beatles tag, please.

Ah, ncie one! I still remember when my father woke me up in the middle of the night, early morning, to tell me Lennon was shot. He could deliver the goods.

I once saw a comic based on a chess set- it was about the same time John was shot, showing a chesss set with only white pieces with the words ” South African chess championship”. Since then Ive been in SA playing chess.

John was absolutely right. Humanity has been making wars throughout its existence because of three things:

        1. Religion
        2. Nationalism

        and above all

        3. POSSESIONS

As long as these three things are a part of this world there won’t be any piece.

        Human race is doomed.

This set can be seen in the Imagine film they made about 1971 (not the one with the same title made in the late 1980s, although it may be there too, I can’t remember).

We will see this exhibition tomorrow (it opened publicly today)! My family is up from Buffalo for a visit.

Japanese chess (Shogi) sets usually have the same colour for both sides—they need to, because a captured piece can be placed in your employ! The pieces have directional bases, so which way it points determines whose side it’s on. One can do this with the Staunton pieces except the rook and pawn, and even with those there’s usually a seam that could be oriented filewise for White and rankwise for Black. Alas, the natural human tendency to make distinctions and choose up sides isn’t going to be chased by a song, and one cannot get anywhere without the distinction between 0 and 1.

Yes, and the experiments in such imaginings (e.g., PDRK, PRC, USSR, Cuba) tend to be horrific nightmares.
