      European Amateur Chess Championship 2017 in Nis

      European Amateur Chess Championship

      The European Amateur Chess Championship 2017 is currently ongoing under the splendid conditions in the Constantinus Hall of Tami Residence in Niš, Serbia.

      The Championship is perfectly organized by the Chess Federation of City of Nis under the auspices of the European Chess Union.

      The opening ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic, Nis City Councillor for Sports Branislav Kacar, and City’s first Grandmaster Slavoljub Marjanovic.

      The championship has three different FIDE rating categories: 0-1699, 1700-1999 and 2000-2299 with the total prize fund of 3.000 EUR.

      Money prizes, as well as cups and medals, will be awarded for the first 3 places in each category. Winners of each category will be provided with free accommodation for the next World Amateur Chess Championship 2018 under the condition they don’t reach or exceed rating 2300 by the registration deadline.

      The championship is being played according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds, with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with increment of 30 seconds per move starting from the move one.

      The organizer provides live transmission for 16 games which can be followed in the LIVE section.
