Fabiano Caruana, Italy’s new #1 player

      Fabiano Caruana, Italy

Fabiano has become the #1 rated player in Italy in the July 2007 FIDE rating list. He also gained more points since then and his rating should be around 2570 or even higher in the next rating list. He already has 2 GM norms under his belt and he is on the way to getting his 3rd as we speak in Hungary.

Here is the rating chart to show his remarkable climb to the top since January 2004. He gained ratings in every list since that time. Congratulations to Fabiano for his accomplishments and special recognition to his family for their tremendous sacrifices to help him reach the pinnacle! I am very proud of everything he has done and I am looking forward to Fabiano breaking 2600 and the top 100.

        Hello Susan:

The Photo that Dario has send,is maked in Palau,Porto Mannu,Sardinia,at Residence Capo d’Orso,Northern part of the island Italy.Fabiano obtenied a good 2nd place in my Island, and loose only one game. For a combination i was in Porto Mannu, and for combination i win a little price in different cathegory and i was priced with him.I Have maked some photoes in witch i am with Fabiano at the end of the tournament.Unfortunately i never had the possibility to know him personally, but i think it will be the possibility in future.I Will write a lot in my site about him.
About me,i was very luck to finish in the price zone, but i played globally badly because i was very tyred for different motivation apart chess. But this is not important. The important is that i have seen a globally improvement of chess moviment in Italy.
        Carissimo Dario congratulazioni!!
        Antonio Cerina
