      Sergey Fedorchuk Winner in Bratto

      “Scacchistica Milanese”, historical chess club founded in 1881 and organizer of the prestigious Crespi International Tournaments, managed the 31st International Chess Festival Conca Della Presolana on 20-28th August in Bratto, Italy.

      The tournament was held under the patronage of the Italian Chess Federation, with ScacchiRandagi as technical partner. The playing venue was Centro Sportivo Comunale, località Rucola 10, Castione della Presolana (BG).

      The festival consisted of 5 separate tournaments:

      Master – for players with FIDE rating or Italian Elo rating equal to or more than 2000 (9 rounds, 76 players)

      Open A – for players with FIDE rating or Italian Elo rating between 1750 and 2050, both included (8 rounds, 57 players)

      Open B – for players with FIDE rating or Italian Elo rating less than 1800 (8 rounds, 54 players)

      Open C – for players with FIDE rating or Italian Elo rating less than 1500 (6 rounds, 16 players)

      Open U16 – for all players born after 31th December 1995 (6 rounds, 14 players)

      The total prize fund is 12000 EUR, with 1500 EUR set for the winner of the Master Group.

      Ukrainian Grandmaster Sergey Fedorchuk convincingly won the Master Group, completing the event with 7.5 points, full point ahead of the chasing pack.

      GM Alberto David of Luxembourg, favourite of the local chess fans due to his Italian roots, pulled a victory in the final round and caught up with the group of players on the shared second place.

      Master Group final standings:

      1. GM Fedorchuk Sergey A. 2618 UKR – 7.5

      2-5. GM Sveshnikov Evgeny 2514 LAT, GM Horvath Jozsef 2535 HUN, GM David Alberto 2609 LUX and GM Arun Prasad S. 2489 IND – 6.5

      6-10. IM Genocchio Daniele 2446 ITA, GM Greenfeld Alon 2566 ISR, GM Cebalo Miso 2484 CRO, IM Manca Federico 2401 ITA and IM Bellia Fabrizio 2424 ITA – 6.0

      11-19. IM Vishnu Prasanna. V 2340 IND, GM Horvath Csaba 2517 HUN, IM Narayanan Srinath 2371 IND, IM Recuero Guerra David 2441 ESP, Indjic Aleksandar 2373 SRB, IM Melia Salome 2437 GEO, FM Juhasz Kristof 2334 HUN , FM Cocchi Andrea 2297 ITA and IM Pedzich Dominik 2418 POL – 5.5 etc
