14-Year-Old Removed From High School Football Team … Because She’s a Girl

If you are going to discriminate against someone, and I’m not advocating that you do, mind you, you should probably lie about it. Sure, that’s compounding evils, but at least you’re not going to get fired and then summarily sued for sexual discrimination.

Which is what will probably happen to Hank St. Denis, executive board chairman of the Georgia Football League, after he kicked Kacy Stuart off of the New Creation Center football team in McDonough, Georgia. Because she’s female.

The 14-year-old high school freshman from Spalding County learned Thursday night – while team pictures were being shot – that she was being booted off the field. But her mother said she isn’t going down without a fight.

“We’ll file for an injunction if we have to,” Angie Stuart said Friday. “We’ll do whatever it takes to keep her on the team.”

[…] St. Denis overruled New Creation’s decision to let her join the team.

“He said she can’t play simply because she’s a girl,” Stuart said.

When she heard the decision, Kacy cried.

And it gets more awkward because it’s not like she lacked the sufficient talent to be there and was just trying to make a statement — she helped take her public middle school team to the state finals last year and had local high schools fawning over her for her kicking services, if that’s even allowed.

The truly embarrassing thing is that private schools, while holding the ability to be a little more discriminatory, should generally be more progressive in these matters because they’re not governed by the government’s laws.

So to see someone set everyone back about 10 years just because he has power and doesn’t think that girls should play football, well, that’s pretty irritating.

Girls need to get boyfriends, get married, and let their husbands take care of them. Girls have no business playing football. Girls shouldn’t play chess either.

If she doesn’t mind getting squashed by larger and stronger boys, let her play.

“When she heard the decision, Kacy cried.”

Thus validating the decision in their eyes.

Ah, guys. I see you are young and don’t know much about women. The more you exclude and prevent them, the more they will be eager to do it.

I say, let the girl play. She would quit by itself within a year or two. Her male team-mates will triple their muscle mass in that period and she will see that she is simply no match for them.

This by no means shovinistic, it’s just the fact that women can’t possibly keep up with men in sports where physical strength is the main factor – which American football certanly is.

If she wants to keep on playing football she will have to switch to women team sooner or later.

        But let her play.

I’m a guy, and if I can’t play on the girls team, then the girls can’t play on my team. I beat Diana Taurasi One On One and could play on her high school basketball team.

“Oh, I can’t play in the girls team either…”

I think they should let you play because you certanly sound like a girl.

A real bloke wouldn’t want to play in the girl team even if he could.

I’ve never heard of a “boys'” (or, for that matter, “girls'”) football team. What other team could Ms. Stuart have had the chance to try out for?

As to the the wisdom of having separate open and girls’ / women’s teams / events, reasonable people can disagree.

I hope Ms. Stuart collects a very large settlement from this idiot school district. Mr. St. Denis also needs to find a career more in line with his meager skill set.

Keep in mind: this is the part of the USA that, within my lifetime, used to bar athletes from teams on the basis of their race. They don’t seem to have progressed as far as we might have hoped.

This is one of those Christian schools right? New Creation Center? Shows you that if they ruled the world they’d send us back to the 15th century.

Oh and it’s spelled “chauvinistic” not “shovinistic”. Americans cannot spell to save their lives

        You assume too much.
I’m not an American otherwise I would hardly use the term ‘American football’, would I? 🙂

And English is not my native language, so forgive me for not getting everything right 😛

The ability to participate as a kicker on a small
        home school – quasi private
football team is NOT in question. New Creation Center signed Kacy Stuart, received her $750 fees to play and she did.Obviously welcomed by NCC Crusaders. However, Hank St. Denis, executive board chairman of the Georgia Football League made the decision to resend playing privileges for a girl. Unless GFL’s strict prohibition against girls playing appears in the bylaws,St Denis made a HUGE kick in the grass with this decision.
Anyone smell a national story hitting the media gridiron. The ordorousness of this story in not from the locker room.
