      GM Ivan Ivanisevic is Balkan Champion

      The 3rd Balkan Individual Chess Championship was played from 12th to 19th December in Podgorica, Montenegro. Ten players who qualified from the Open circuit competed in the round robin event.

      Tournaments valid for the Balkan Grand Prix:
      Memorial Branko Vukmanovic, Tivat, Montenegro 16-24.04.2010
      16th “M. Sadoveanu”, Iasi, Romania 19-25.08.2011
      Georgiev – Kesarovski Memorial 2011, Suncev Breg, Bulgaria, 27.08-04.09.2011
      Skopje Open 2011, Skopje, MKD, 23.10-01.11.2011
      Belgrade Trophy 2011, Obrenovac, Serbia, 24.11-02.12.2011

      Top seeded GM Ivan Ivanisevic took a clear first place with 6.5/9 points. He scored six victories, two losses and only one draw. Romanian IM Lucian-Costin Miron shared the 2nd place but more importantly he earned a Grandmaster norm.

      Final standings:

      1. GM Ivanisevic Ivan SRB 2636 – 6.5
      2-3. IM Miron Lucian-Costin ROU 2513 and GM Radulski Julian BUL 2565 – 6.0
      4-5. GM Damljanovic Branko SRB 2597 and IM Filip Lucian ROU 2471 – 5.0
      6. GM Todorovic Goran M SRB 2482 – 4.5
      7-8. GM Blagojevic Dragisa MNE 2514 and GM Nedev Trajko MKD 2493 – 3.5
      9. IM Pancevski Filip MKD 2442 – 3.0
      10. GM Stanojoski Zvonko MKD 2470 – 2.0
