      GM Savic Miodrag wins Moma Vucicevic Memorial Tournament

      The first Moma Vucicevic Memorial was held on 13th December at the Hotel Metropol in Belgrade, Serbia.

      The 15-round blitz tournament with the time control 3′+2” was dedicated to the memory of FM Moma Vucicevic who passed away last year at the age of 46. Vucicevic was former U14 champion of Yugoslavia, captain of the Serbian national team at the Dresden Olympiad and generous sponsor of many local chess events.

      The big hall of Metropol, the venue of the 2013 European Women’s Championship, was packed full with a total of 213 players, numerous reserves and observers.

      Grandmaster Miodrag R Savic emerged clear winner with 12 points, leaving the second-placed GM Milos Pavlovichalf a point behind. Full standings under the photos.

      The total prize fund was 2500 EUR. Arbiters: IA Nebojsa Baralic, IA Petar Katanic Vujic, IA Branka Vujic Katanic, IA Marija Stojanovic and NA Rade Goljovic.
