      GM Suba Wins Rapid Event in Alicante

      Mihai Suba, Rapid chess

      The 9th Open Villa de Ibi took place as a rapid tournament on 11th September at the Centro Cultural de la Villa de IBI in Alicante, Spain.

      The competition was held over 8 rounds of Swiss system and in two groups – main event with 77 players and a juniors tournament with 30 players. Reigning European Senior Champion Mihai Suba took a clear first place with 7 points, half a point clear of the opposition.

      Manuel Sanchez Segura won the kids’ tournament with a total of 6.5 points.
