        That’s unfair.

It is misleading. It is called the Scottish Championship but only a Scottish person can be Champion, even though the Championship is open to all players! Sports events seem to be able to get away with misleading things like this. If it was someone other organisation offering goods or services then I think official consumer bodies would be on their case. The winner of a Championship is clearly the Champion. If you make it an Open then you allow anyone to be that Champion. Otherwise it is a Closed Championship and the event should be named something else. Perhaps it should be called the ‘Scottish Open (incorporating the Closed Scottish Championships)’. Job done.
