Happy Birthday to the legendary Chess Queen

      Chiburdanidze, Happy Birthday

      by GM Alex Baburin

Georgian GM Maia Chiburdanidze was born in 1961. In 1978 she defeated Nona Gaprindashvili and became the 7th Women’s World Chess Champion, a title she kept until 1991.

Maia is clearly one of the greatest female players in history. Even at 50, she is still quite active in chess. Happy Birthday to the Georgian Chess Queen!
