The 3rd HDBank Cup International Open Chess tournament 2013 will be held from 18th to 25th March, 2013 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The local star Le Quang Liem (and incoming freshman at Webster University in the Fall of 2013) will be the top seed in the tournament with 2709 elo. Another 2700+ player is GM Ferenc Berkes, arriving from a distant Hungary.
Regional chess powerhouses China and Philippines are sending groups of their finest players. Among them is the world’s youngest Grandmaster Wei Yi.
The 9-round Swiss open will offer US$30,000 in prizes. Currently 102 players from 12 federations are signed to take participation. Among them are 24 Grandmasters and 26 International Masters.
Grandmaster Ni Hua was the convincing winner of the 2nd HDBank Cup Open Chess Tournament.
