      IM Alan Pichot wins 2015 Paraguay National Congress Blitz Tournament

      The 2015 Paraguay National Congress Open Blitz Chess Tournament took place on 4th May, in Asuncion, the capital and largest city of Paraguay.

      The event was a 7-round Swiss tournament with tempo of play 5′ + 3″ for the first three rounds and 10′ + 2″ for the last four rounds.

      78 players from 3 different countries took part in the event, including 7 GMs, 3 IMs and 5 FMs.

      The first place was shared in a four-way tie by IM Alan Pichot (Argentine), GM Jose Fernando Cubas (Paraguay), GM Ramirez Neuris Delgado (Paraguay) and GM Sandro Mareco (Argentine), after the whole group finished the event with 6/7 points.

      However, Pichot prevailed on a superior tie-break score to claim the trophy, Cubas took the silver, while Delgado remained third.
