      Tournament Report

      2011 Grand Pacific Open
April 22-25 2011 in Victoria Canada

      Mark your calendars now.

87 players played in this years edition of the Grand Pacific Open, a new record for us. Participants came from all over with a good contingent from Alberta and Washington/Oregon and several from Ontario. This year’s prize for furthest distance traveled goes to Polly Wright who made it here from New York.

International Master Lawrence Day won clear first with 5.5/6 and took home the first prize of $1000. The complete list of prize winners and crosstable is given below. Games and a selection of photos are posted below. In the mean time you might enjoy reading about us in Polly Wright’s blog http://castlingqueenside.blogspot.com. Games and photos are also available on Mon Roi at: http://monroi.com/2010-grand-pacific-open-chess-championship-home.html. Channel A news sent a cameraman to the tournament as well.
