Carlsen is not in his greatest shape lately. I think his rating will slip a bit until he gets to 2800

Carlsen just keeps pushing too hard. His game agaisnt Movsesian was a clear draw, however, he kept pushing and pushing and eventually lost. Now the same against Ivanchuk who – let’s be frank – chose a rather timid opening, probably counting on Magnus overstretching again. The same in Biel were he threw away the tournament against Alexeev. Carlsen is still playing great but I really wonder when he will finally learn that sometimes a draw is just a draw, and that he can falter as well as his opponents (used to). Still, kudos to him for keeping pushing.

Why talk about Carlsen if Chucky wins (again!)?

        “Is Kamsky past his prime?”

could be, but i’ve now learnt that a player’s tournament results before his/her World Championship match means very little. Heh!

however, Carlsen’s having a very bad start.
