      ACP, ACP Cup

Report on the ACP Tour and ACP Women Series 2009-2010
      ACP [Sun Jul 11th, 17:58]

Both final tournaments of the ACP Tour and ACP Women Series 2009 – 2010 have been completed in the first days of July. Vasily Ivanchuk emerged as the winner for the second time after the edition 2007 – 2008. He gathered 2897 points in ten events. Curiously enough, two players finished joint second with 2340 points! Levon Aronian reached this score out of eleven tournaments, while Vladimir Kramnik needed only six. As usual, the first 13 places of the final standings qualify to the next ACP World Rapid Cup.

      1 Ivanchuk, Vassily 10 2897
      2-3 Aronian, Levon 11 2340
      2-3 Kramnik, Vladimir 6 2340
      4 Eljanov, Pavel 8 2249
      5 Gelfand, Boris 9 2182
      6 Bacrot, Etienne 12 1979
      7 Grischuk, Alexander 10 1903
      8 Mamedyarov, Shakhriyar 8 1880
      9 Svidler, Peter 9 1871
      10 Karjakin, Sergey 8 1773
      11 Shirov, Alexei 9 1547
      12 Malakhov, Vladimir 11 1543
      13 Vitiugov, Nikita 8 1514

The race in the Women Series has been dominated by the Kosintseva sisters. Thanks to her second place at the recent FIDE Grand Prix in Jermuk, Tatiana eventually edged out Nadezhda, and repeated her success of the Second Women Series. She scored a total of 2232 points out of nine tournaments, while her sister came to 2172 out of nine events as well. Anna Muzychuk ended third with 1803 points out of seven tournaments. The first 8 players of the final standings qualify to the Second ACP Women World Rapid Cup.

      1 Kosintseva, Tatiana 9 2232
      2 Kosintseva, Nadezhda 9 2172
      3 Muzychuk, Anna 7 1803
      4 Stefanova, Antoaneta 8 1755
      5 Cramling, Pia 5 1322
      6 Lahno, Kateryna 5 959
      7 Zhukova, Natalia 4 934
      8 Cmilyte, Viktorija 7 933

Whereas the Rules of the 4th ACP Women Series 2010-11 remain the same, the Rules of the 7th ACP Tour 2010-11 have been slightly modified. In view of the increasing number of tournaments rated as Level A, the ACP Board decided to create a new level. The so-called Super Level will apply to tournaments whose strength exceeds 2725 according to the ACP scale. Consequently, the tables of the ACP Points System have been adjusted at some places.
