Super GM Ivanchuk was born this day in 1969. He has been one of the best players in the world in over 2 decades.
I first met him back in 1988. He definitely has an amazing chess mind. Happy Birthday to GM Ivanchuk!

I’ve always thought the marketing of Kosteniuk as a sex kitten is silly, ever since I first became aware of it when reviewing a book of hers. Heck, they startedit when she was just in her early teens, with such Lolita-like shots as this:

To everybody else: Yes Ivanchuk does have an incredible mind for chess, but to anyone else does he look like it’s about 10 minutes before last call?

Doesn’t Ivanchuk have a huge opening repertoire compared to just about anybody else?
He seems to have a deep strategic understanding of virtually every opening.
I remember someone interviewing him about his opening repertoire a couple of years back and he said commented that Carlsen is another strong GM with a large opening repertoire.
