      Kunin leads Schwarzacher Chess Open 2014 with perfect 5/5

      The 29th Schwarzacher Chess Open 2014 is taking place at the Ballroom of the Hotel Post in Schwarzach im Pongau, a market town in the Austrian state of Salzburg on 16-23 August 2014.

      The event is a 9-round FIDE Swiss Open with a hefty prize fund in the amount of nearly 13.500 €, organized by Sport Club Schwarzach – Section Chess under the auspices of Andreas Haitzer – Mayor of Schwarzach, Mag. Gerhard Schmidt – President of ASKOE Salzburg and Ernst Winkler – Chairman of the Tourist Board St. Veit / Schwarzach.

      64 players from 13 different countries, including 5 GMs, 14 IMs, 6 FMs, 1 WIM are vying for the first prize of 2.000 €.

      The two-time winner GM Vitaly Kunin (Germany) is once again convincing with 5/5 points, a full point ahead of the nearest followers. Kunin lifted the trophy in 2013 and 2012 editions of the tournament.
