      Lenderman, Huschenbeth and Enkhbat share honors in 51st Baltimore Open

      Alex Lenderman, Baltimore, Niclas Huschenbeth, Tegshsuren Enkhbat

      The 51st Annual Baltimore Open took place on 8-10th February at the Holiday Inn Columbia, 7900 Washington Blvd, Columbia, MD.

      The tournament was held in five sections: Championship, U1900, U1700, U1500 and U1200.

      The organizers have introduced some unique tournament features in order create a pleasant environment for playing chess. See the list in the tournament preview.

      28 players competed in the main group – Championship. Grandmasters Aleksandr Lenderman 2694 and Niclas Huschenbeth GER 2594 and IM Tegshsuren Enkhbat 2496 shared the first place with 4,0/5 points each. 

      IM Bryan Smith 2520, WGM Sabina-Francesca Foisor 2386, Adithya Balasubramanian IND 2356 and Alex Barnett 2318 finished on 3,5/5 points each.

      In the U1900 section Dobrynya Konoplev 1898 is the convincing winner with the perfect 5/5 score. Konoplev earned 1200 USD for this exceptional result. There were 29 players in this section.

      The U1700 section had 28 players. Nathan Feldman 1730p and Andrew Wang 1598 shared the first place with 4,5/5 points each.

      There were only 10 participants in the U1500 section. Isaac Chiu 1451, Neil Duggal 1371 and Robert Karl Pekarek Jr 1339 shared the podium with 3,5/5 points each.

      The U1200 section had 22 players. Christopher Salley 1076 smashed the opposition to take the first place with perfect score and the prize of 500 USD.
