The Las Vegas International Chess Festival 2012 was an awesome event and I have to give a special thanks to GM Ron Henley for convincing me to come out and make the trip. Not only did GM Henley arrange my interview with former World Chess Champion Anatoly Karpov, he agreed to play a few poolside blitz games at the Riviera Hotel. This video is Game 1 of our 4 game match, where I opened with […]

The Las Vegas International Chess Festival 2012 was a resounding success, bringing together a large amount of quality chess events at the Riviera Hotel through the June heat in Vegas. The National Open chess tournament featured a star-studded cast of strong Grandmasters: Lenderman, Gareev, Akobian, Shankland, Robson, etc. and was a very hard-fought 6 round Open event. Aleks Lenderman took clear first place to win $6,400 USD. Former World Chess Champion Anatoly Karpov also made […]

The 2012 ChessCube World Cup 3 is taking place throughout the month of July and features many of the top blitz players in the world representing their country in this high-stakes battle for national glory and pride. While I believe the USA has the highest average rating, defending champion India is stacked with titled players and must be considered one of the tournament favorites. Brazil, Greece, and Germany are also packing some power and are […]
