Miguel Munoz first at XV Torredembarra Open

      Chess tournament, Spain

The XV Internacional Open Torredembarra took place on 6th-14th July at the Pavelló Sant Jordi, Zona Esportiva Municipal, C/Rosella, S/N (43830-Torredembarra), Spain.

Rating favorite Miguel Munoz Pantoja confirmed his superiority and took home first place after getting 7.5 points in 9 rounds. He edged Colombian International Master Jorge Gonzales on tiebreaks to claim the winner’s trophy.

Argentinian IM Marcelo Panelo arrived third with 7 points after leading the event in the first rounds. His loss against Munoz in the penultimate round broke his good run and left him with the medal bronze.

This event was part of the X Catalan Circuit of International Chess Events.
