      IM Gabor Papp of Texas Tech University helped Hungary beat France in round 1

      Italy takes the lead at Mitropa Cup 2010
      Caruana leads men team to victory, Elena Sedina gives the win to the women team

      Italy took the lead in the open section of Mitropa Cup 2010. In the open section Caruana, Vocaturo, Brunello, and Rombaldoni were superior to their opponents from Austria winning 2 match points and 3,5 game points after convincing 3,5:0:5. Hungary is just half a game point behind after stable win 3:1 against France. Switzerland and Slovenia won against Slovakia and Czech Republic 2,5:1,5, while the only draw match of the day was Germany against Croatia.

      In the women section Italy was the only victorious team 1,5:0,5 against Austria. The matches Czech Republic – Slovenia, Germany – Croatia, Slovakia – Switzerland, and France – Hungary finished draw.
