      Saturday Open Forum

It has been a busy week in the chess world with many events going on simultaneously: The Baku Open with Kamsky, the Spanish Team Chess Championship with many 2700+ players, the Arctic Securities Chess Stars with Carlsen, Anand, Judit, and Hammer, the Russian Championships Higher League, Leko vs Gelfand in Miskolc, etc.

According to the website of the current FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, he has already secured the support from 90 countries while former World Champion Anatoly Karpov has around 20. Mathematically, the election is over before it begins as there are only around 170 national federations. The only shot Karpov and his team have is to win in court as he and the USCF are suing FIDE.

The good news is both sides claimed to have secured millions of dollars in sponsorship. For the sake of our chess community, I hope things will materialize. Unlike some websites and interested parties, I am publishing everything I receive from all the candidates in the FIDE and ECU election. It is important for all chess fans to have the facts rather than political spins by various career chess politicians.

Just as the motto of my site, I will always try to bring you updated, timely, fair, and objective chess daily news and information from around the globe.

It’s Saturday Open Forum. The forum is yours. What would you like to discuss?

OK I will say no. Onischuk can not beat Vishy in a world championship match.

        Now what is your reply.

Karpov advised his supporters not to go public to avoid extorsion from Kirsan. We hope a different result in Khanty Mansyisk.
