      GM Ilia Smirin and GM Mircea Parligras lead the Acropolis chess tournament
      the chasing pack is close behind

      GM Ilia Smirin and GM Mircea Parligras are top of the table after 5 rounds of the Acropolis international chess tournament with 4,5/5. They drew each other in round 4 and won the other 5 games.

      The two leaders are followed by a large chasing pack with 4,0/5. Among them we find GM Gelashvili, the Spanish U18 champion GM Ivan Slagado Lopez, GM Zubarev, GM Romanishin, GM Banikas, and the three top women of the competition – IM Dzagnidze, IM Danielian, and IM Alisa Maric.

      Very good performance until now has WGM Anna Rudolf, who won against IM Managadze and held to a draw IM Rasmussen. In the next round she will meet GM Atanas Kolev, who had good performance at this years Las Vegas open.

      One of the biggest rating gainers until now is WIM Alexandra Stiri, with draw against IM Grigoriadis and a victory over WIM Mihaela Sandu.On the other pole is GM Dmitry Svetushkin, who had 2 draws and a loss from IMs.

      Top board pairings for next round are GM Banikas – GM Smirin, GM Gelashvili – GM Parligars, GM Salgado Lopez – IM Danielian, GM Romanishin – IM Dzagnidze, IM Maric – GM Zubarev.
