      Fresno, Fresno Chess Club

I am finally back in Texas after spending a few days in Fresno, California. I was very happy to see such enthusiam for chess in that area. Everyone in the organizing committee worked very hard for many months to prepare for this big occasion and they did a great job.

As I mentioned before, this is a club that went from 15 paid members to 228 in about 20 months. It is the fastest growing chess club in America and if you want to run a successful chess club, follow the example of the Fresno Chess Club. (www.fresnochessclub.org)

Big thanks to everyone for your wonderful hospitality! It was a fantastic experience!

It truly was wonderful to see Susan Polgar in Fresno. Susan has such a friendly personality and her passion and dedication to the game of chess was contagious. We would encourage any Chess Club wishing to promote chess to invite Susan to their community.

I speak for myself and many FCC members when I say, “It was a privilege and honor to play a game of chess with Susan Polgar.” Susan, I was told that one of our members…floated home that night!

What would it take to invite Susan to my community here in the Philippines? I wonder…

“What would it take to invite Susan to my community here in the Philippines? I wonder…”

A World Champion memorial match with Xie Jun and a purse of $50,000.00 win/lose/or draw.

Can the Philippine Chess Federation pull this off?

Susan is truly a chess goddess. I was already up a piece playing the Hennig-Schara Gambit during her 64-board simultaneous exhibition in Fresno but she was able to turn the table around to first a drawish position and ultimately to a winning one. How did she do it? Well, like magic…she is truly a world champion who had given me the most memorable game of my life. Thanks Susan for coming over to Fresno.

Sonny, what was the overall result of the simul?

Out of 64 boards, I think she drew 2-3 and lost 1.

I seriously doubt she lost any games.

She lost just one game and two were draws. Offical results will be on the FCC website along with some of the games played. The one who won, I believe, did not take notation. What a shame, I would enjoy seeing that game most of all.
