      TEXAS GIRLS SCHOLASTIC CHESS TOURNAMENT

      What : 5 round Swiss Style Tournament in 5 sections: U.S.C.F. Proof of membership required. Players must be prepared to show proof of membership or pay for a new membership upon registration.

      K-1, Primary(k to 3), Elementary (K to 5/6), Middle School (6 to 8/9), High School (9 to 12)

      Where: Central Catholic Elementary—1218 Comanche—Corpus Christi, TX. 78401

      When: October 25, 2008 On-Site registration Sat, Oct. 25th 7:30 am to 9 am (requires ½ point bye first Round). Rd.1-3 (g/30) 9am , 10:30am , 12:noon ,Rd.4 (g/45) 1:30pm , Rd.5 (g/60) 3:30pm. followed by awards. Check-in time is 8:30 am for Sat.

      Entries: $31 Fee– Must be post-marked no later than October 10th of 2008, or received before or on Oct. 15, 2008 in order to be eligible for the $31 fee. Any later or on-site entry will cost $45. Entries without payment will not be considered officially registered. For school groups contact Eddie R. Rios Sr. (361) 455-3682 or e-mail teacher@intcomm.net. Please do not e-mail entries.

      Requested Byes : One, ½ pt bye available if requested before round 2. Byes are irrevocable.
      All additional Byes 0 points.

      Refunds and Cancellations: No later than Thursday, October 23, 2008. No substitutions allowed.

      Equipment : bring your own clock if you have one—notation pads and pencils will not be provided

      Prizes : Scholastic K thru 12 awards as follows: 1st thru 6th –Medals to next 10. Team Trophies to Top 3 Teams (a team score considers the top four scorers but can consist of two or more players).

      UTD will award a scholarship to the top High School player. Details on other pending scholarships will be made available as they are acquired.

      Special: Open Rated Tournament for all individuals interested— Saturday, October 25, 2008,
      4 Round swiss(g/30)—3Sections:U500, U1100, Open.
      Prizes—Trophies to top 5 –medals to next 5.
      EF: $15 per player, $25 on site with ½ point bye. Round 1 starts at 9:30, all other rounds will follow.
      Check-in and Late registration from 8:30 to 9 am.

      NOTE: October supplement will be used—no changes to ratings will be done—ratings for pairings will be taken from USCF supplements for October.

      TEXAS GIRLS SCHOLASTIC CHESS TOURNAMENT ENTRY FORM
      PLEASE WRITE CLEARLY SO WE CAN PROCESS ENTRY CORRECTLY.

      Hotel housing will be handled by Holiday Inn Airport hotel and conference center. Limited supply of rooms. Registration will be between October 1 and Oct. 10. Hotel will provide shuttle to and from tournament site. 1-16 passenger vehicle available for this, so try to leave early to tournament site.
