MUMBAI: The winning touch appeared to be elusive for yet another round of the Linares Super GM Chess tournament for World Champion Viswanathan Anand.
Also, the defending Champion here, Anand once again had to strive hard for a draw against debutant Dominguez Perez in the tenth round on Monday night.
It was definitely the unfancied players who stole the day’s thunder with Wang Yue scoring his first victory at the expense of Norway’s Magnus Carlsen and bottom placed Teimour also coasting to his first win of this tournament at the cost of one of the favourites — Levon Aronian of Armenia.
Alexander Grischuk, meanwhile stayed content with a fourth draw in succession and maintained his sole elder status with 6.5 points.
Grischuk along with Vassily Ivanchuk is the only undefeated player in this event. Ivanchuk is in second place with 5.5 points while Anand, Aronian and Carlsen are bunched together with five points each.

No surprise about this. Anand is known for drawing his way to safe victories….not for creating chaos in the chessboard in order to demolish an opponent. Anand definitely masters the art of drawing.
