The preliminary groups of the Top Chess Engine Championship are complete and Stage 2 of the event is going to start today at 12:00 CEST. Follow them live at the official website. A total of 16 participants are going to play a double round robin to determine the final eight of the event.
Among the participants 12 engines have tentative 3100+ ELO, 3 are at 3000+ ELO, and one at 2900+ ELO. The exact ELO cannot be predicted as many of the participants have submitted new versions with extra strength. One thing is certain, Stage 2 of TCEC is going to be the strongest ever chess event in history.

Out of the 16 participants, nine will play with new versions – Komodo, Stockfish, Nirvana, Andscacs, Fire, Ginkgo, Hannibal, Jonny, and Raptor.
