It’s dinner time. Everyone has finished their games, except the top 2 players. Yang Dai, the top seed, and the defending champion Courtney Jamison are still battling it out. This is a critical game as the winner will be the sole player with a perfect score with 2 rounds to go.
The game is wild. Both players are down to the last 2 minutes on their clocks. Yang Dai has a pair of Rooks, a Bishop, and 2 Pawns. Courtney has a pair of Rooks and 5 Pawns. It’s intense. The defending champion wants to defend her title. The top seed in this year’s event wants to take her crown.
Neither is holding back. Neither is backing down. Only one can be victorious.
At the end, Courtney blunders in time pressure. The top seed wins. This is one of the toughest battles in the history of the SPNI. Courtney plays like a champion and Yang plays like a player who is on a mission to unseat her. This is how chess should be played.
