We had police and horse escort from the hotel to the beautiful location for the closing ceremony. It is a 7 minute walk in the beautiful historic district. The police stopped traffic for the group when we need to cross the street. Thousands of people were on the street snapping pictures.

“Thousands snapping pictures” – can’t see them, and if they are somewhere, what are they snapping pictures of?
Surely you meant ‘countless’ as in ‘no need to count them’?
