      Volkov convincing winner at Pavlodar Open

      The Pavlodar Open 2014 took place from 1-10th December in Pavlodar, a city in northeastern Kazakhstan.

      The tournament was devoted to the Republic of Kazakhstan Independence Day and organized by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, Management of tourism, physical training and sports of the Pavlodar area, and Pavlodar Chess Federation.

      100 players competed in the 10-rounds Swiss event for the prize fund of USD 10,000.

      Russian Grandmaster Sergey Volkov convincingly won the tournament with 8,5/10 points, leaving the chasing pack a full point behind.

      Final standings:


      1.Volkov Sergey – 8,5
      2-6. Bezgodov Alexei, Aleksandrov Aleksej, Burmakin Vladimir, Maletin Pavel and Zubarev Alexander – 7,5
      7-10. Andriasian Zaven, Kassimov Baurzhan, Kuderinov Kirill and Korchmar Vasiliy – 7,0
      11-17. Jumabayev Rinat, Khanin Semen, Vokarev Sergey, Khusnutdinov Rustam, Temirbayev Serikbay, Iskusnyh Sergei and Akkozov Berik – 6,5 etc
