        1. Bf6! hg4
        2. Rg4 Kh7
        3. Rh4 Kg8
        4. Rh8#

Hi all! Its fun that the bishop and the rook together are enough to mate the black king (with the help of the precious pawn – that takes the g6 square) 1 Bxf6+ hxg4 2. Rxg4+ Kh7 3. Rh4+ Kg8 4. Rh8 and that´s it.

When I first set this position up on the board, I had the placements of the black-squared bishops reversed. That made the solution pretty easy: 1. Qxg7#. That remains my favorite solution to this problem. But, putting the black-squared bishops on their proper squares, my 2nd favorite solution would be:

        1. Bxf6+ hxg4
        2. Rxg4+ Kh7
        3. Rh4+ Kg8
        4. Rh8#

Wow, I think I actually solved it!

        1 Bxf6+ hxg4
        2 Rxg4+ Kh7/Kh8
        3 Rh4+ Kg8
        4 Rh8#
