Quotes from the players in Nanjing:

      Magnus Carlsen from Norway:

This is my second visit to Nanjing and since I championed here last year, I was always doing well in the competition. So I guess Nanjing is my blessed place.

      Veselin Topalov from Bulgaria:

I have been here with my families for several days and we have spent a good time. I’ve also met some new friends here in Nanjing. I think the competition this year is organized better than the previous ones.

      Viswanathan Anand from India:

It is my first time to play in this tournament and I was told by other players who participated in it that is was a great tournament. I am the world champion this year but I feel more proud to be the representative of Asia.

      Wang Yue from China:

This is the second time for me to take part in this tournament and I am very glad to be here because last year it leaves me with a wonderful memory. I like to compete with top masters and I really appreciate the efforts made by everyone concerned with the tournament.

      Etienne Bacrot from France:

I feel very happy to be in Nanjing and it is also my first visit. With the efforts and support made by Chinese Chess Association, China has made huge progress within the last ten years. I have played several rounds with local players this afternoon. Though I did my best, it was really a tough job to win in every round.

      Vugar Gashimov from Azerbaijan:

I am honoured to be in this tournament and I will try my best cause I want to present a wonderful and excellent competition to all.
