The preparations for the chess event of the year are in full activity – and meanwhile the acquisition of the main sponsors has been finished: Evonik Industries and Gazprom are the main sponsors of the World Chess Championship 2008 in Bonn. “Evonik Industries and Gazprom – two worldwide concerns are involved in the Championship. This underlines the outstanding importance of the classical duel for the highest chess title”, emphasizes Josef Resch, president of the organizing company Universal Event Promotion. “The commercialization of the event is a great success.”

A complete TRAVESTY of Justice. I hope the true World Champion, Veselin Topalov and his excellent manager Silvio Danailov will be outside of this event protesting. He is the only one who can safe guard this event and prevent Kramnik from cheating. He is the one who proved Kramnik was using Fritz and then wire in the bathroom straight to the KGB. With the involvement from Gazprom it means there will be tremendous pressure on Germany to ensure a Kramnik victory or the Natural Gas will be cut off from Western Europe ensuring a very cold winter of discontent. This is a sad day indeed.

It is unfortunate that Anand has to face so much off the board pressure from Kramnik, Hensel and his gang. Gazprom is a Russian concern and is a supporter of Kramnik. Evonik, as evidenced by Kramnik’s website, is a supporter of Kramnik. Hensel has very strong connections to UEP, which is the organizer of the match. It is unfortunate that FIDE cannot organize a match in a neutral venue under neutral organizers.

        Off the board pressure? LOL
Kramnik doesn’t hurt a fly; you’re easily influenced by some posts here and there. You’re probably still very young.

Yes, Gazprom = Soviet Government = KGB = Fritz = Wires = Bathroom Breaks = Kramnik victory. Gazprom will definitely turn off the power to Western Europe unless Kramnik wins. There will be more pressure in this match than the one in Elista and for much much higher stakes. It is too bad Topalov was deprived of his true victory.

Can’t they just give Topalov a certificate saying he’s the True Champion and pay Danailov 25 million dollars to make them happy…

KGB ceased to exist together with the Soviet union by end of 1991.

Stop being so paranoid, and better be more concearned about your domestic security agencies rather than KGB.

Atually this is the coolest comment.

Kramnik went to the toilet and found no toilet paper.

So, he was forced to use a stolen copy of Vishy’s openings.

It’s scaring to know that all sponsors are European and Kramnik supporters. What if they facilitate cheating by Kramnik without anyone’s knowledge? Are there third party controls and audits in place to vouch for the fairness of the match?

Wonder why Anand couldn’t ask one of the many Indian companies (and also Multinational – like AMD) with whom he has endorsement contracts to become a co-sponsor of this championship. Intel sponsored PCA in 1995, AMD could have stepped in now.

The more pressure Anand puts on Kramnik the less Gas pressure Gazprom will deliver to the pipes of Western Europe. By the end of this match the people of Europe will be begging for a Kramnik victory to keep them from freezing in the winter. I would expect that Danialov should be looking for a pipe instead of a wire this time. I hope he goes to the tournament and conducts an investigation like the last time – fairness in chess has no favorites only a desire to seperate a human being from their chess engine computer.

if there is one thing this days which I can be sure of is that Kramnik and the Russian gevertment together cheated Kramnik’s way to the top

note: just check the game Kramnik vs kasparov intel grand prix 1994 (india defense), Kramnik could not have possibly played that game on his own against Kasparov in just 25 minutes

yes, here is the game http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1070716

there is not doubt in my mind that kramnik and the KGP made a cheatting plot against Kasparov for this game (nobody could do this to the champ on those days)
