      Zhou Jianchao leads 1st Qin Huangdao Open

      GM Zhou Jianchao leader in the 1st Qin Huangdao Open Chess Tournament

      The 1st Qin Huangdao Open Chess Tournament is being played in Qin Huangdao, Hebei, China, from 30 September to 7 October 2011.

      The 9-round event, hosted by the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, Qin Huangdao Municipal People’s Government, is offering a generous prize fund of 87,000 USD. The winner takes 20,000 USD home.

      GM Zhou Jianchao is strongly pushing ahead with two consecutive victories and is now a sole leader with 6 points from seven games. Vietnam’s GM Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and reigning China champion GM Ding Liren are half a point behind.
