It’s too bad Reshevsky is the smallest font on your flyer. It would have been nice if it had been the Reshevsky Memorial Tournament and then in smaller font “sponsored by SPICE”

Another moronic troll. Why the hell should they have it as the Reshevsky Memorial Tournament? Why should anyone even put Reshevsky at all? This is a typical Lafferty troll style post.

I wish the US would have more tournaments like this. Even a poorer country like Mexico can organize a first class multimillion dollar event.

anon 5:20, Lafferty is a person. This is how a fellow USCF member described him in the uscf forum:

“Brian Lafferty lacks the social skills needed to participate in this forum. This is not the first time that he has demonstrated that he has a extremely limited ability to get along with people with whom he disagrees.” Smith

hmmm…doing the math the top player should be around 2632. Canidates (not including inactive players):

        Naiditsch, Arkadij g GER 2639

What is the minimum average rating for a Category 12 tournament?
For an average of 2527, the ‘mystery player’ must have an ELO of 2632 or more.
As Humpy Koneru’s ELO is 2606 and greater than the (inactive) Susan Polgar’s (last seen by me parked at 2577), I assume the mystery player is not SP herself. Perhaps we should open a ‘book’.

When Danny Kopec’s photograph appeared in this blog for no obvious reason, I thought he might be appearing in the Reshevsky Memorial tournament.
However, his FIDE ELO is 2354 as of January 2007, at least according to Wikipedia which I have no reason to doubt on this occasion.
So I assume the ‘mystery guest’ is not Danny Kopec.

Err – have we not just seen Yasser Seirawan’s photograph on this blog? Seirawan stands at ELO 2634 – enough already!

So my inference is that Yasser will play.

The conclusion that Yasser will play does not take into account the ‘?’ against the Number 1 spot.
I think there must be some doubt about whether the required ‘2632’ player will actually play. Perhaps they will pull out at the last minute ‘for personal reasons’.
Note also that the program cover does not claim to be a Category 12 Tournament.

Average ELO = 2526.6: is that good enough for category 12 for FIDE?
