        Susan

What happened to Anna Hahn who was champion in 2003. She seemed like such a nice person. I keep looking to see her play again. I think she should have been invited. She is not on the list.

Anna Hahn has a very good job now.

Let’s not blame Mr. Goichberg for all the problems. It is just bad timing because Anna Z. just gave birth and Rusa G. is due soon.

        Best wishes,

Even still with some of the top women out of action it should still be some exciting stuff to watch.

One of the revelations about women’s chess is that unlike what physical sports like basketball, women’s chess is actually more aggressive! J. Shahade’s book brought this point out and if one looks at the games of the top women players, you’ll see that they are certainly not cautious and defensive minded – if anything they favor double edged lines.

        Susan,

If you are elected to the EB of the USCF, would you introduce a delegate motion to require state affiliates to hold an annual women’s championship as being part of their responsibilities as a state affiliate?

I have offered my state’s affiliate complete sponsorship of such a women’s championship – everything from playing site, trophies and tournament director fees, but this was turned down flat.

By the way, the president of our state affiliate does not like women playing chess and has driven a few of them away in the last few years with rude, public comments.

Who decided who would be invited and on what basis?

This is an official USCF championship and there should be some transparency in the system.

Not least so that players who wish to qualify know what they have to do in order to take part.

Jim and Frank Berry RESCUED the US Championship and the US Women’s Championship when sponsors backed out for various reasons (probably money). It’s hard to find midwest organizers/TD’s with more experience.Jim Berry gets MY vote for the EB.
