2009 Oregon All Stars

Local students are invited to compete in chess event

Seven Salem-area students recently were named 2009 All Stars by the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation and invited to an invitational tournament Saturday at the state Capitol.

All Stars are the top 10 percent of chess players in Oregon. Players with the highest rating, by grade, are invited to the All Stars Invitational event.

Salem-area All Stars are Geordyn Allyn, grade two; Jayde Allyn, grade one; James Chen, grade five; Julie Chen, grade two; Carson Hannibal, grade 10; Dana Hannibal, grade nine; and Charles Li, grade 11.
