      2009 SPICE Cup

Lubbock, SPF, SPICE Cup, SPICE Cup Festival, Texas Tech, TTU

I am happy to announce that we have just confirmed GM Yuriy Kuzubov (Ukraine) for the 2009 SPICE Cup (September 19-29 2009).

He just tied for first at Gurgaon Open in India. His current rating is approximately 2630 and he is ranked #10 on the world junior list (Wesley So is at #9 and Magnus Carlsen is at #1).

The 2008 SPICE Cup was a category 15 event, the highest rated 10 player International round robin tournament in U.S. history. The 2009 SPICE Cup will be at least a category 16 event (likely to be category 17)!

It will once again be held on campus at Texas Tech University and is co-organized by Texas Tech University, SPICE and the Susan Polgar Foundation.

We are also adding a B group, an Open tournament, as well as a scholastic tournament as part of the SPICE Cup Chess Festival.

How come the USCF doesn’t post about your event and yet so many of CCA events?
