      2011 Sagicor Open

      Barbados, Chess tournament


      Technical Information

      Eligibility: Players must be born on or after 1 January 1991 (Under 20),
      1 January 1995(Under 16) and 1 January 1999 (Under 12).

      Format: Seven (7) round Swiss event (each player plays 7 games) in three (3) sections, Under 20, Under 16 and Under 12.

      Time Control: 1:30 hours for all moves. Players will not have to score in the last 5 minutes. Standard laws of FIDE as regards to sudden death will apply.

      Default Time: Default time is ½ hour after the actual start time. Players,
      parents, coaches and managers are kindly asked to note that if a player defaults 1 game without notifying the Chief Arbiter by telephone or otherwise and without an appropriate excuse that player in question will not be paired for the next round and runs the risk of being withdrawn from the tournament.

      Tiebreak: The sum of the Progressive scores followed by the Bulchoz,
      Sonnenborn-Berger and result of match between tied players. If ties still exist the position will be shared.

      Overseas Registration Fee: US$25.00
      Local registration Fee: BD$25.00

      Vice President for tournaments, Kelvin Daniel at kelvin_daniel@hotmail.com no later than 26 June, 2011. Payment for registration can be done on site.

      Under 12 Section
      1st Place – Trophy & US$ 150.00
      2nd Place – Trophy & US$ 100.00
      3rd Place – Trophy & US$ 50.00
      4th Place – Trophy
      5th Place – Trophy
      Best Girl – Trophy

      Under 10 – Special Prize – Trophy

      Lunch will be on sale at the tournament site.

      Standard – US$65.00 double occupancy
      Superior – US$68.00 double occupancy

      Palm Gardens

      Studio Apartment – US$ 65.00 per night for the room plus 7.5% tax.
      2 Bedroom Apartment – US $ 75 .00 per night for the room plus 7.5% tax.

      Broome’s Vacation Homes

      US$25.00 per person per night for the room including taxes if the room is maximized i.e. at least 3 persons containing 2 double beds.
      Single Occupancy – US45.00 per night for the room including taxes. (No meals included.)
      Double Occupancy – US$60.00 per night for the room including taxes. (No meals included.)
      Other options will also be available.
