Too many draws.
I don’t get this Linares. Where are Kramnik, Carlsen, Anand, Radjabov, Grischuk, Polgar, Karjakin, Caruana, Morozovich? Isn’t this supposed to be the most prestigious tournament in the world?
They should re-name Deadares…
Yeah, 7 draws out of nine games. Not saying that the players aren’t trying, but it has been a bit of a snoozefest so far.
I am also not in favour of this new trend to have the super tournaments very exclusive – MTel, Nanjing, now Linares. I guess they are going for the “highest average rating”, which youc an’t achieve with 14 players, but I still prefer Corus. And didn’t the greatest tournament of the modern era, Linares 1994, have 14 players?
