I think Nakamura just dipped below 2700 recently from some losses/draws against weaker opponents in whatever he played in after Cap d’Agde.

Cap d’Agde was a rapid tournament. I don’t think it counted against or for FIDE ratings. In any case Nakamura won that tournament, so I doubt he lost any points considering the competition was the likes of Carlson, Ivanchuk, Radjabov, and Bu Xaingzhi, among other 2700+ or near 2700 players.

“Cap d’Agde was a rapid tournament. I don’t think it counted against or for FIDE ratings.”

You THINK it is not rated??? When was a rapid game ever rated by FIDE?

Besides the other person said that nakamura lost points in events AFTER Cap d’Agde.

last anon- just to be pedantic- FIDE did rate rapid games a few years ago and made a FIDE rating list for rapid games- but for some reason that suddenly stopped (Kasparov was usually top anyway- Adams was high in it too after he won some rapid events)
