A piece of ice the size of 41 square miles and 11,000 times larger than a football field broke off in Northern Canada yesterday. The break was so powerful that the radar to detect earthquakes picked up the signal.

I believe it broke off 18 months ago. But it took them a long time to find out by looking at satalite pictures and then to confirm it. they announded it happening at this time.

I guess the got the date of breaking off from seismic data.

It occured on August 13, 2005

I suppose that it will be consequence of the increment of world temperature. With a couple of grades more I suppose that big masses of ice will melt and the sea level will go up (time: 2 or 3 centuries). I am happy of living near a good chain of mountains, we don´t have this type of problems.
