      41st Rilton Cup in Stockholm

      41st Rilton Cup in Stockholm

      The Stockholm Chess Federation welcomes all chess players to the 41st Rilton Cup, which will be held from 27th December 2011 to 5th January 2012.

      This year’s tournament, with a prize fund of more than 200 000 SEK (about 20 000 euro), will be played in three groups: Rilton Cup, Rilton Elo and Rilton Open (the Open is only for Nordic players with a national rating lower than 1800).

      Rilton Cup and Rilton Elo will be rated with FIDE and played over 9 rounds of Swiss system. The first round starts at 3:00 p.m. the 27th of December. Round 2–8 start the same time. The last, 9th round starts at noon (12:00) the 5th of January. The 31st of December (New Year’s Eve) is free of play.

      Send your entry with name, address, country, Elo rating and FIDE-ID by mail, fax or e-mail, no later than the 16th of December to: Stockholm’s Chess Federation, att.: “Rilton Cup”.

      Rilton Cup

      Open for players with an Elo rating ≥ 2200 and/or national rating ≥ 2200.
      Time control: 40 moves in 90 minutes, hereafter the rest of the game in 30 minutes and moreover 30 seconds per move from the beginning of the game.

      Entry fees: 900 SEK, 450 SEK for FM and for players born 1991 and later.
      GM and IM free.

      Prizes: 1st 20 000 SEK, 2nd 16 000 SEK, 3rd 12 000 SEK, 4th 10 000 SEK, 5th 8 000 SEK, 6th 6 000 SEK, 7th 5 000 SEK, 8th 4 000 SEK, 9th 3 000 SEK, 10th 3 000 SEK, 11th 3 000 SEK.

      Rating prizes: 3 000 SEK, 2 000 SEK and 1 000 SEK (not for GM and IM).
      Prize money is not divided.

      The playing venue is the Clarion Hotel Stockholm, Ringvägen 98, 111 20 Stockholm, +46 8 462 10 00.

      The winner of the 40th Rilton Cup was Russian GM Sergey Volkov.

      Currently 214 players are signed for Rilton Cup and Rilton Elo and the registrations are closed.
