      5th Batavia Chess Tournament

      Chess tournament, Holland

      The 5th Batavia Chess Tournament is taking place from Thursday, February 28th to Sunday, March 10th, 2013 in Café Batavia 1920, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The cafe is located opposite the Amsterdam Central Station, in the direction of Zeedijk, left to the St. Nicholas church, at Prins Hendrikkade 85.

      The games start each day at 14:00 CET. There are two rest days: Tuesday, March 5th and Saturday, March 9th. Hans Bohm performed the official opening at February, 28th at 12:00 hrs.

      It will a single round-robin with 10 participants

      This is a Category 10 event that gives the players a chance to get GM and IM norms. They will need 6/9 to get a GM norm and 4.5/9 to get an IM norm.

      The prize fund will be distributed as follows: 1st place: € 1.000, 2nd place: € 600, 3rd place: € 300, 4th place: € 100.

        For a tournament like this, there are usually appearance fees payed to the players as well, which are not publicly reported.
