Bulgaria’s Chess Star Topalov Registers 1st Loss against US Champion Kamsky
Bulgaria’s chess star, Veselin Topalov, was defeated late Saturday by the US chess champion, Gata Kamsky, in the fourth match of the World Chess Challenge in Sofia, the Bulgarian TV channel BBT reported.
Topalov, who played black, lost to his American opponent at the 73rd move. Two of the first three games finished with a tie and one was a win for Topalov.
There are at least four more games to be played. If they end with an even score, Kamsky and Topalov will meet in a tie-break.
Sunday is a day off for the grandmasters. The next game is scheduled for 3 pm Bulgarian time Monday.
Topalov, currently ranked number 1 in the world, is a former world champion and a fiery competitor. He has been among the world’s best players for years, but it was only after the retirement of Garry Kasparov in 2005 that he broke through to the top.
Kamsky, No. 17 in the world, was a prodigy. He rose as high as No. 4 by the time he was 21, played a match for the title in 1996 and then abruptly quit for eight years.
The World Chess Challenge Sofia 2009 will continue until 28 February in the National Palace of Culture. The winner will compete for the World title against the current World chess champion Viswanathan Anand of India

Thank you. Everything in this article is new!
okay
😉
I firmly believe that in the end Topalov will/must win. Why? Easy! They play in Bulgaria and unscrupulous Danailov and Cheparinov are hovering around. If Push comes to Shove they will go to any extent to ensure a Topalov win. Frankly Anand couldn’t care less. Why? Either of these opponents will prove tough for him!
It’s really unbelievable.
Even if Topalov loses this match again (after the 2006 match against Kramnik) he will get one of the 8 spots in the next candidates tournament…
How can anybody accept this …Lose two matches…qualify for the candidates.
The Danailov mafia actions have to be stopped.
Topalov has no right to play this candidates final against Kamsky in the first place.
His 2005 win in San Louis turns out to be a life-ticket for him. Neither Kasimdhzanov, Ponomariov or Khalifman (also former FIDE champions like Topalov) have been granted anything near these privileges Topalov got…
And the most disgusting thing about it all is Danailov/Topalov constantly talking about others (Kramnik) getting unjust privileges…
I can’t stand this sh.. any longer…
…another additional comment:
Let us all hope that Kamsky wins this match and faces Anand for the Title match.
Can anybody imagine how Anand must feel otherwise if Topalov becomes his challenger?
Then he not only had to grant a Re-Match to the winner of Elista 2006 (Kramnik) but now also to the LOSER of the same match?!!!
How can FIDE be serious about this?
Anand in that case should simply refuse to play Topalov in my opinion…
Very nervous people here and a lot of bullshits writen here!
Dont worry, keep your nerves healthy, because Topalov will win with or without “unscrupules” Danailov and Cheparinov. And after that Vishi will feel the Power of Topa…
“And after that Vishi will feel the Power of Topa…”
How? Does Topa have a special place where he has 220 AC flowing from him? Oh he does, that is right!
Vishi can feel the power of the Rybka chess computer lodged 100 centimeters up Topa’s butt. Plenty of power there.
“the Power of Topa..”
Yes that’s exactly what I was talking about…the Mafia actions of Danailov THAT’s the power of Topalov.
His former attempts to become World Champion by actually QUALIFYING for it were all UNSUCCESFUL.
In 2004 was his last attempt when he LOST against Kasimdhanov. Since then he only negotiates himself into Title matches or tournaments; what a lousy, disgraceful way of doing business is that?
Just read the latest article on the USCF webpage about the 4th game Kamsky-Topalov. It says that Danailov entered the playing hall without being searched/checked and was allowed to use his cell-phone inside. Everybody else was checked of course…
Any further questions about this guy???
…another good one:
Also on the USCF webpage about the 4th game you can read that they (the organizers = Danailov and Mafia Inc.) show a documentary at the match site titled “How Topalov was robbed of the Title in Elista”.
(Actually…Topalov/Danailov tried to rob the title by unfair cheating accusations from Kramnik.)
Any more words about this Danailov scum…
BTW just read the book by Topalov/Ginchev and take a note about what is said about the “computer room” in Topalovs villa and how Danailov threw all members out of it except one trusted member of the team. You really can get the impression that there is a special secret relationship between Danailov (with his cell phone) and this trusted computer operator.
Just read it and compare it to the strange events about Danailovs cell phone calls and gestures in Wijk 2008 or in San Louis 2005…
Just my opinion here. It is great to have people like Polgar who are trying to show this game to more and more people. What people we are to write comments like those above in this blog, which main goal is to be a place to honour the chess?
Gentlemen, the Cold War ended long ago. If anyone here looks mafia in the face of Topalov, Danailov Cheparinov, it remains on his behalf. More stuff I had not read in bulk. Very sorry for transfusion crap flushed from several Russian newspapers and Chezbeyz brain. Think with your head before you write bullshit.
The most normal thing is Topalov to win the match, so do not drag on any conspiracies in Sofia. As you like it, you were to arrange the match in the United States. Had such an opportunity. Topalov has demonstrated that there is no problem to play and abroad. But not now no reason to expectoration in Danailov, who likes you or not, has done much more about chess than all the American Federation.
